S ahar is an 18-year-old girl living in a remote village in Northern Iran. Her mother died unexpectedly of cancer two years ago. Since then, Sahar has lived alone with her mentally challenged father Rahim. Sahar has taken on her mother’s role. Because without this help, her father would not be able to survive. She has tried her best to take care of him with love and patience but now the situation has become complicated. She is accepted in university which means she has to leave her father in that village alone.

A first-grade primary school teacher in a poor suburb of Tehran assigns a letter to each student and asks them to bring items starting with an assigned letter, related to their fathers’ jobs. Mehdi's father is a fruit seller and he must bring 30 apples (“Seeb” in Farsi) to class on the “S” Day. However, an unfortunate event immerses the family in a crisis. Saeed, Mehdi's older brother, should find a way to overcome this challenge and help Mehdi for “the apple day”.

DREAMS’ GATE is an observational documentary where Iranian female director Negin Ahmadi starts a personal journey into the combat zone of North Syria to question what it means to be a woman. Alone with her camera, she decides to look for an answer for her questions by encountering the women who embody the strongest contemporary myth of female strength and freedom: Kurdish female fighters. The personal search and internal struggles turn into an intimate women diary written in the first person. Following, sharing, witnessing the life of this other Kurdish women put into question the image that the director has of herself and of the cost of equality and freedom in this difficult region.
